Outdoor construction in Solana Beach.

We start with how your family wants to use a compact coastal lot, lay it out to get the most from the space and the view, then build it to last in bluff-top salt air. Pools, hardscape, outdoor kitchens. Same owner, in-house team, clean record since 1984.

Outdoor living project in San Diego County

Solana Beach starts with how you live outside.

Solana Beach is a tight, compact town. Lots west of the railroad sit close together on the bluff, where ocean and lagoon views set the rules, and parcels east toward Lomas Santa Fe roll up into hillside grades. Most yards here ask for more than the space seems to allow, so the work is the layout: getting a place to cook, a place to gather, and a clear line to the view out of a compact lot. That spatial design is where we start, and it’s what most contractors skip on their way to a bid.

The setting then drives the materials. On the bluff, constant salt air and wind off the water punish cheap hardware, so we spec stainless and marine-grade fasteners, powder-coated metal, sealed stone, and corrosion-rated equipment. The same footprint can swing two or three times in cost by material alone, so we educate you on where the money matters and where it doesn’t.

The city protects ocean and lagoon views with strict height and setback limits. When a layout you’ve pictured won’t fit those rules or the lot, we’ll say so and take design control to fix it. A better plan and the right materials beat the cheapest bid. Then we build it to last.

Solana Beach questions.

Yes. Ultrascape has built outdoor projects across North San Diego County, including Solana Beach, since 1984 — from compact bluff-top lots west of the railroad to hillside parcels east toward Lomas Santa Fe. One in-house team handles design, engineering, and construction, so you deal with the same people start to finish.
We start with how your family wants to use the yard and lay it out to get the most from a compact lot and the view, then let the setting drive the materials. Bluff-top lots take constant salt air and wind off the water, so we spec stainless and marine-grade fasteners, powder-coated metal, sealed natural stone, and corrosion-rated lighting and equipment, so the build holds up instead of rusting in a few seasons.
Solana Beach protects ocean and lagoon views, so height and setback limits drive what can be built on a bluff-top lot. We handle City of Solana Beach permitting and inspections in-house and design around the view rules up front, so the plan is sized to pass rather than redrawn after a denial. Many homes also fall under HOA review, which we carry too.
A layout you’ll use on a compact lot, materials chosen for heavy bluff-top salt air, and a build sized to clear view-protection setbacks and HOA review. The same footprint can cost two or three times more depending on the materials, so we educate you up front on where the money counts.
